Jon was an ordinary guy, he worked in a newsagents and lived in Manchester. He shared his flat with his room mate Jack. He was a nice guy but was very arrogant about girls because he was always out at night clubs or parties, and half of the time he didn't come back till the next day which really annoyed Jon because he was always studying and working hard. He was studying Biology because he wanted to become a nature scientist. Right now he was writing his thesis on the anatomy of a blue whale and the differences between them and the dolphins anatomy. To tell you the truth Jack was a slacker and all he wanted to do was to go out with girls, and he had a big choice since he was "so hot" according to any girl Jack had ever met. Jon was lonely, he had only ever had one girlfriend in year 8 when a girl had asked him out as a joke. His nicknames had included froggy, speccy four eyes, and simply nerd. He had put up with those names and all of the bullying but now he was going to be a famous scientist, he was going to discover new things, new science that would shake the world. Jon new that speed dating was for sad people but he had to give it a chance. When it came to creating his profile he wasn't really sure what to put but in the end he put "A shy guy with brown hair and blue eyes, hobbies are reading and drawing" he was a pretty good drawer but he wasn't an amazing artist like Leonardo DA Vinci or one of those famous people. It could be worse though. After about a week he got a reply on Speed Dating saying that a woman of 31 wanted to get to know him, she was "An athletic woman who's hobbies include running and cycling". She didn't sound like his kind of girl but he thought he would give her a go, I mean it's not like he had any other woman to choose from was it. Jon met her at a restaurant on the other side of the city called "Donzee's Pizza Place". So his speed dating attempt had been pretty successful after all. He stepped through the door and was hit by an aroma so powerful and lovely it almost knocked him off his feet, it was of anchovies and olives, of pepperoni and ham, it was LOVELY! He walked on and asked the waiter for a table by the window, he was lead to a 2 people table overlooking the river. They had agreed to meet at 8:00 but he had arrived 5 minutes early, after about 10 minutes he saw a pretty little woman of about 5' 3", she had brown hair and a stubby little nose. She got to his table and announced that her name was Charlotte. They started to talk and she told him that she had lied on her profile and that she was actually a nurse but she did quite like running. They discussed lots of things including how Jon loved science and that he was writing his thesis, they talked about dance and how Charlotte had loved dancing when she was young but had had an car accident and she hadn't been able to carry on dancing. They talked until they were told that the restaurant was closing and they would have to leave. Jon walked her home and they had a little cuddle before he left, and he called a taxi to take him home. It's wonderful what speed dating can come to.

My name is Sarah. I'm 25 years old. I've recently just lost the one person that i thought would be my loving partner for the rest of my living life. He was my hubby, my love, and my everything. When he's around, everything just seems to be perfect. It felt like he was made for me and my purpose in life is making him happy. But all of that was blown away on the day that my husband died.

"What on earth is speed dating?" Mark questioned when his friend Joe proposed the idea. "OK, it's like meeting a whole lot of women for small dates of ten minutes at a time," Joe replied. "How does it work exactly?" Mark asked and Joe told him that, at this particular event, the ladies stayed seated at their same table and the men circulated. "They sound a bell and, when you hear it, you move to the next table and the next woman," Joe explained.

I think for some men, dating women can be a bit scary. Especially the first date. My eldest brother has just started dating and was asking me for advice for his first date. He has been seeing the girl he is currently with for 5 months now. They look so adorable together. Last night he made her dinner for the first time. He had candles on the table and wine too. Bless him, I really think it is adorable.

I absolutely love dating services. I think that they are wonderful. You never know what sexy man you may meet next. I remember my first date that I met through one of these services. It was a little strange, but also very fun. It happened on my birthday a few years ago. His name was Ryan. He was tall, big, and handsome. He was also a bit athletic. We went to dinner and spent most of the evening talking about sports. I did not mind it since I am also a sports fan, but it did become very boring after a while. So, after several attempts at trying to change the subject, I finally decided that it was time for the evening to come to an end if we could not talk about anything else except for sports. I started to leave the table but he quickly stopped me. He asked me if he was a bore to me and I told him that he was. He looked very sad for a moment, then he came up with an interesting proposal. He asked if I liked card games. I told him that I did. He said that if we played a card game and he won, then he would get to have another date with me, but if he lost, he would never speak to me again. So, I accepted his proposal. I was able to choose the location for our game. I chose to go to my home. Ryan drove. It seemed like such a long ride, but it was an anxious one. Once we arrived, I showed him around the house and found a deck of cards. He began to set up the game at the kitchen table but I instead called him to the bedroom. Once he came in my bedroom I told him to set up the game on the bed. He did. At first, I was winning. I was so excited. Then, things changed. Hand after hand was a losing one for me. Ryan remained calm the entire time but he was so sexy. Finally, the last hand came. I fought a tough battle but he won. I figured it would not hurt to go on a second date with him, but it would be the last. Or maybe it would not be. The night did turn into a fun one and Ryan showed so much personality. The next dinner we went to was quite a bit more fun! We laughed, we talked about subjects other than sports and it was wonderful. After our sexy, glorious evening began to come to a close, Ryan made one more proposal to me. We would go to his house and his bedroom this time and play a card game. The incentives would be announced after the game. I had so much more confidence in my card-playing skills that I just knew that I could not lose again. Unfortunately, my confidence did not help much because I did lose. It was a good loss though. His proposal, this time, was one for marriage. I accepted! And it all started with a dating service.

They say that love is blind and how I wish that were true. For me dating women is very, very hard. There are many women where I live but for the life of me I can not figure out why they won't go out with me. I really feel that dating should not be this hard, you're supposed to find a girl you like and ask her out. Then you are both supposed to go out for a nice evening followed by a goodnight kiss and on to the next night and next date.
